Absence Of and The HOT AS A HELL experience

When we were invited by Ricardo Finocchiaro we felt very happy. We hadn't played since May 2008 at the 9th Zeppelin in Concert, also after an invitation by Ricardo. After that gig, we had a few months with a blank spot on the mics, because of Arthur's studies in Baltimore, USA, and focused completely on song writing. We started a whole bunch of new ideas, most of them lost or forgotten a few months after. But even our focus wasn't THAT focused since some of the guys had to put music aside and to give attention to professional or studying matters.

This year, though, we had more success on composing objectively, and new songs have been worked out in the last months.

So, when Ricardo invited us, we had two weeks for putting a 40 minute setlist to work. And looking at the other bands (It's All Red, One of Them and Disrupted Inc.), we were sure that we needed to do our best. And our heaviest.

Which we did, but not without a last hour issue: cutting out a song from the set. We planned playing the sequence I'm coming, Blank, Goodbye Bunker Hill, Ennui (one of the new tunes), Herd, One warm day and Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song. After watching two mosh pits in a row during IAR and Disrupted's presentations, we thought it would be really nice not to play the dense, introspective keyboard led parts of Bunker Hill. For our own security, perhaps.

What happened was that we set our moods for "whatever" mode and kicked everything, everyone away. We played with iron balls. And it was OUR BEST SHOW EVER until now.

Well, everybody's gotta learn sometime. :P
